Today, Air Products announced it has donated $175,000 to the Manchac Volunteer Fire Department through its Lake Maurepas Community Fund to support the department’s emergency response on Lake Maurepas and the surrounding area. Funding includes a new backup generator for the firehouse, wiring and installation, an upgrade to the fire department's bathrooms and sleeping areas, remodeling of the kitchen area, and a new Mercury Jet 80 engine and McClain boat trailer. Finally, funding will be provided to convert one of the truck bay areas to a fully functioning training room for the department where they will hold first responder training for fire fighters and wildlife and fisheries to include boater safety classes.
“The Manchac Volunteer Fire Department is located strategically on Lake Maurepas, making it home to front line responders in case of an incident or emergency on or near the lake. Air Products is proud to continue to support the fire department and its mission to keep everyone who uses Lake Maurepas safe,” said Danna Leblanc, Commercial Executive Director of Air Products’ Louisiana Clean Energy Complex. “As we move forward with developing our facility, partnering with first response agencies is critical. We remain committed to the Lake Maurepas area and ensuring that life on the lake is as safe as possible.”
“This funding has enabled us to make numerous upgrades to our firehouse that better meet our needs while also enhancing our ability to provide fire training for first responders, including wildlife agents. Additionally, the Air Products donation will enhance how we serve and protect members of the public who enjoy Lake Maurepas. We are appreciative of the continued support and partnership from Air Products,” said Chief Stormy Joiner.
